Gilroy Garlic Festival

The Gilroy Garlic Festival has been called the “Ultimate Summer Food Fair.” Established in 1979, this three-day summertime celebration required the work of 4,000 community volunteers, whose efforts have returned over $ 7.5 MILLION to various local charities.

  • Learn how a whole community celebrates the stinking rose.
  • Discover what it’s like to eat kangaroo and other exotic meats.
  • Find out about a popular celebrity chef.
  • Understand how important non-food items are to this festival.

Please note: Since this episode was produced some of the websites mentioned have stopped working. Here is a list of working links:

http://GilroyGarlicFestivalAssociation.com – While there is no longer an annual festival, the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association still holds fundraising events throughout the year.
https://www.conagrabrands.com/ – This is the correct link to Conagra Foods. In 2010 it sold its Gilroy Foods & Flavors dehydrated and vegetable product operations.
https://guyfieri.com/ – The official Guy Fieri website, which has changed since he was interviewed for this program.
https://christopherranch.com/ – Christopher Ranch Garlic was a major sponsor of the festival.
